NBB Radio Control Technology
As a manufacturer of professional radio control systems, NBB Controls + Components GmbH is one of the most innovative companies.
Continual developments of technological refinements are decisive factors for the product and system safety of radio control systems. They are often the major difference when it comes to the issue of stability under severely adverse conditions.
Innovations together with experienced use are harmonized to be able to offer reliable system solutions.
The multi-user system enables radio communication between several transmitters and several receivers. Each transmitter can be optionally operated with several receivers at a workplace and / or vice versa. Provided that this connection is not otherwise used at this moment.
The teach-in function enables an optimized utilization of the joystick movement. By setting the min/max values on the transmitter side, the maximum move of the joystick is optimally utilized. As a result there are no longer any dead joystick motions. Even a minimum deflection of the joystick causes the immediate opening of a valve.

SMJ technology – Surface Mounted Joystick
The joysticks for the Planar®, HyPro® and Nano series are part of the NBB component strategy for the unit design.
The SMJ joysticks are integrated in the housing with positive locking without housing openings. As joysticks are included as wear parts under certain conditions, NBB offers the option with its SMJ technology to be able to change a joystick on site. The housing does not have to be opened for this purpose so that no safety measures to prevent contamination must be taken. Easy to service and twist-proof.

NBB battery pack systems NiMH (rechargeable)
Nickel metal hydride batteries (NiMH) have a high energy density. The contacts have a self-cleaning design.
The NBB battery pack is charged with a high charge current with a NBB charger. This quick charge is thermally controlled to optimize recharging and prevent overcharging.
As the Ni-MH technology does not have a memory effect, it can be regularly recharged to prevent deep discharge.

Fieldbus protocols are frequently used as standard to connect to the PLC or PC-based controller for the data transfer in machine and vehicle construction. The bus cable replaces the previous cable bundle.
NBB offers an appropriately equipped radio receiver as part of one of the system solutions for integration in this type of bus system.
Data transfer with CAN bus
Typical application areas can be found in industrial automation. The following protocols are supported by NBB:
- CAN
- CANopen
- J1939
The following receivers can be equipped with a CAN bus interface according to the customer requirement:
- Compact M
- Compact M2
- Compact V
Data transfer with PROFIBUS
Typical application areas can be found in machine construction. The Compact M2 receiver is suitable to be equipped with a PROFIBUS interface.
- Compact M2
Serial data transfer
Typical for relatively simply structured control commands. The following protocols are supported by NBB:
- LINbus
- customer-specific
The following interfaces are available for this:
- LINbus
- RS232
- RS485
The following receivers are suitable for this:
- Compact M
- Compact M2
- Compact V
Note
As receivers are only sensibly selected in connection with the transmitter and its specific application (system technology), we recommend using the applications section for more detailed information.
As safe as possible …
Human safety is the first priority when using our products. Especially when this involves cranes and machines where it must be ensured that work procedures are not inadvertently or incorrectly carried¬ out or if there is a risk for the user and he should be provided with protection.
This safety risk is significantly reduced using the RADIOKEY. Here a defined range is available for the crane or machine operator in which the remote control system can be activated. As a result, unwitting or inadvertent activation of the transmitter is excluded and the receiver is not sent any control information.
Every time the transmitter is switched off, a routine is initiated that ensures that an activation of the radio connection can only occur when the receiver clearly detects the signal. This is only the case if the minimum distance between the transmitters around the receivers is complied with.
… as flexible as possible
Individual work conditions and types of devices and machines require flexibility.
The minimum distance between transmitter and receiver can be specifically set to these conditions so that activation of the radio connection can only be established when the vie
wing distance between the user an t
he device or machine exists, for example. In an activated state, the controller can be used for operation outside of this range.
LBT frequency search
When switching on or when switching the frequency, a check is carried out to determine whether the used frequency channel is reserved by another transmitter. If this is the case, the next frequency channel is checked until it is ensured that the transmitter can operate without disturbance.
LBT is shortcut for Listen before Talk.
If transmitters are to be used in a potentially explosive environment, suitable technical precautions must be taken.
The Planar®-B1(B2) EX transmitter was specially developed and certified for such applications.
